What future will you have?

Where does the time go?
It seems like I am always doing something.
The one good thing is that can't get bored.
The bad thing is that there seems like there is not enough time to do everything!

The little time I do take to watch the news with my coffee is becoming depressing.
Hit & runs, drinking & driving, abuse, chemical warfare and so much more.
Makes you not want to leave the house!
Or watch the news!
Mondays are the worst.
I try not to watch the news on Saturday and Sunday (give myself a break) but come Monday morning, Wham! It hits me, and than I wonder why I even bother watching the news.
But can not stop myself though, I need to know what is going on, even if it is scary.

They wonder why people are afraid to leave the house.
Just watch your local news for a while.
If that doesn't help you understand, watch some of the news from the USA, with cable and satellite so common now you can watch their news, that will really scare you.

I here people complain that the news on these US stations are mostly local to them.  They even say things like that do not happen up here.
Problem is we can watch local news here where I live and still not be getting the real news.
Much is hidden from us.  They don't want people thinking that this is not a nice place to live.
Most don't have jobs, barely feeding themselves and paying bills and rent.
Some can not even do that.
Grown adults moving in with their parents because alone they can not survive.
Young people's goals were to go to school and college than move out on their own.
Not here, for them to move on their own they need a job.
Most jobs in the area are part time and pay low wages.
Sure there are some good jobs, but you need experience to go with schooling, and for some of the jobs you actually have to pay for the privilege to apply!
Most have to look out of town.
If they don't go to college they have to stay here, with little hope of getting a good wage.

Now let us make it worse.
The truth.

There are people in the area who have worked all their adult life.
Who should be retired and spending time doing all the things they dreamed of.
There are a few who do, but not as many as you would think.
Many are scraping by, barely.
Pensions have been cut and medical insurance taken away.
Oh sure seniors have coverage, the exact same as Ontario Works Recipients (our form of Welfare) and Disability (actually disability covers more but once you become a senior you actually lose coverage and have to pay for what you were getting, yourself)
Now many seniors don't get enough money to pay to live at an average level of comfort.  Many lose what little comforts they did have.  But now they need to pay for medicine they "need"
 too.  Some are not cheap.
We have doctors who think our seniors have money, because the scare them into taking vitamins and other over the counter drugs they don't need because of kick backs or incentives by sales people, sometimes I think they get paid for each thing the prescribe.

Now I know many seniors, spend time just saying hello and chatting.  I pay attention when they talk, if you listen to them you may be surprised at what you will learn.  Most once they get to know you will tell you things like just how much they go with out (and they are not complaining), what they give to others because they need help.  Than there are those who don't say anything, mostly because they do not want others to know how hard their life really is.
Most have worked hard all their lives.
Many have had their pensions cut or lost altogether.
Others would be fine but they give their money to family members who, believe it or not,
are in worse shape then them.
These are people who should not have these kind of worries.
They are in the twilight of the life, the time we are taught since we are young that will be for us, to do what we want, even if it is nothing but lay back and relax.

People in this area (and all over the world) between the ages of 50 and 65 are facing a bleak future.
Our parents are barely making it, our children are out of work or in jobs that pay less than needed.
Any money that is saved can be gone with one emergency(that is if they can save at all).
Which means we have to work more or less the rest of our lives.

It is amazing how many people right now live on money they have not even received yet.
Credit cards carry them from month to month, adding interest to money you do not have.

The young we are raising (public school/high school) seem to think they are entitled to what ever they want.
But So and so goes on this sky/snowboard (or amusement park) trip every year, everyone has there own cell phone with internet and texting, people will make fun of me if I don't have the right clothes, or but I can't go hang out with my friends unless I have at least $20.  Everybody gets at least $50 to go to the fair. And that is just some things, there are others like PlayStation/Xbox games, iPod, rides all over town etc.
Some adults just let them have what ever they want with out realizing that they are not helping these kids but setting them up (and themselves).  What happens when these kids grow up and become adults?  How will pay for what they want?  And their bills?
I have met young people who believe that their life is made.  They believe their parents will be there to give them whatever they want.  And sadly there are many who, believe it or not, are waiting for their parents death to inherit money so they never have to work!  I even heard of one threatening their stepmother that she will be thrown on the street when their father dies (sadly she died first), they even had the gull to yell at their father for buying furniture, spending their money, it is so sad how many of these kinds of people there really are out there.  Many of these kids are in for a rude awakening.  For some reason they think the parents have money because they always got what they wanted.  When the truth is any money will be tied into a house (that will need to be sold) than bills paid, such as the funeral.  The real shocker will be when 1 parent passes and they realize that the money goes to the other, not to them.  They still have to wait.

Well I really want on a rant there.
My point is that there are 4 generations.
The Great grandparent struggling to survive and to help when they can.
The Grand parent trying to help the parent and their grown children.
The Children try to keep a steady job with a half decent income so they have a roof over their head, food to eat and raise their children.
The Children's children who seem to think that everyone has money and to be denied what they want is because their parents are cruel and not the truth that their parents just can't afford it.

Something to think about don't you think?
Believe it or not your life may be better than those around you.
Be happy for what you have and what you can give.

Well I better go before this gets any longer.

Will see you soon!

Nonstop Funny dogs & cats(from YouTube)

Nonstop Funny dogs & cats

Okay don't blame you if you don't watch this, it is 35 mins long but it has some great stuff in it!
I was only going to skip through it but couldn't do it! just had to watch it!!
turned speakers up so cats could look around (so I could laugh more) and
there are parts I would love to have the original addresses for.
Would post them separately on different days.
There are a few clips that bring up some very interesting
facts about animals.
;~)

Just an book and PC update ;)

Hi all will be doing research on company UPC#s to see what more I can find.  Will be my weekend project.

Today I got my new computer! Yay!!!  It is fast and has 1 TB hard drive, 6 GB ram but added 8 GB stick for increased speed. Also has Windows 8, seems to be okay, was a little worried about the new windows but seems to be user friendly.  Have made all necessary disks and back ups and registered everything.  All I have left to do is finish installing printer, camera etc software.  Oh by the way looks great and my new monitor, which is perfect for this one.  And they match!  LOL

So tomorrow will be setting up my aunt's MP3 for her. Probably switch this new keyboard back to my old one, this new one seems a bit small.  Tomorrow night will let Foxy post, or Little Boy if he can work up the nerve, lol.

Next week only working 4 hours each day so yipee more time for reading /writing blogs and reading books (although I read everyday, wish I could read more) and a little time to work on a special project for the Oz Altered Celebration.  Okay just switched keyboards, this is a lot better, can type faster with less mistakes!

Since it is faster means no more waiting for pages to load while doing research, was amazed how fast it is compared to my laptop, which was not that bad, until it decided it wanted to act funny.

For the readers out there I bought some more books, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy (I know, but I have never read it before) it came with another copy of the Hobbit, (paper back- all four books $20.00) which is okay since the one I am reading is on Kobo.

I also bought Secret of the Dragon (hardcover also on sale for $2.00) by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.

Plus found a new blog today through Book Blogs called Midnight Thrillers where I saw a book review on The Dead of Winter By Jack Night (I bought this one from Kobo $3.96) which I also bought, this is one of the next ones I intend to read, for the New Authors Challenge 2013.

I swear some of the best books I have read I bought on sale, how weird is that?  Also a great way to read new authors and different styles of writing.

Do any of you remember a series a while ago called Flash Forward, I believe, wasn't a big hit, but I read the book, Flash Forward by Robert J Sawyer about a year before (one of my $2.00 ones) and the book was fantastic!  If you like Sci-fi you would like the concept of this book.  God I love imagination. ;~)

Okay I have to go for now but I will be back!

Be careful what you post!!!

Okay was watching the news and saw something for the first time.  I did a search and found out it has been going on for a while (over a year).  It is a channel on YouTube called “I’m Shmacked”

Considering how the internet has become such a big part of our everyday lives, I am surprised that more young people don’t realize the danger of posting what they do online.
This channel focuses of universities/colleges students partying.  These 2 young people decided to travel to different schools and capture the party life.  Sounds innocent enough to some, but as soon as I heard it, I knew what was coming.

These videos and any other videos and / or pictures on Facebook and other social media are a bad thing.  They will be there for a very long time.  Why don’t these people realize that anyone can see them?

I have always been against showing pictures of children on the internet because of the dangers that are out there.  Of people who search the internet for young people.  I realize the maybe some older people may not realize this, but young adults should, there are programs you can buy that search and notify you of certain things posted anywhere online.

I mean anything.  Phone numbers, names, key words, anything. But you can do just a regular search using names and you would be surprised what you find.  Put in the word pictures and it will search everything it can and produce pictures that have been tagged with that name.  (This is what my niece tried to tell her other aunt [-Boho mom-])  Now if a parent or child posts a school event picture (which includes the schools name) or a picture with street names etc. it is easy for anyone to find out where that child lives.

According to the news it said videos don’t have tags, which is not true, videos can be tagged with names.  So if a young person does something stupid and then makes it worse by posting it with a tag using even their first name only, it can be found.

So, if they post videos and pictures on the internet using tags with names they are there to be found, even years later unless they are removed.  Now there is the problem.  If someone reposts the video or picture by downloading it first, then posting it, it is now at a new location.  How do they remove that one?  I get emails with pictures I will not forward because of the nature of the pictures and they could be embarrassing to the person or family members if they saw them or maybe an employer.  In a lot of cases people are downloading the pictures in the email to view.  Now if they see one they think is funny they may decide to post somewhere else (I do this with funny none people pictures).  Another location that needs to be found to delete.

Even if by some chance you were able to delete all online photos/videos, it is a good possibility that they still exist on a computer somewhere waiting to be re-posted.

New software is always coming out.  You can download pictures from phones or any wireless device without even realizing you are doing it and posting for all to see.  This is really bad for adults who do not know much about software or computers. Some people always say yes when they are using their phone/computer/tablet not realizing they are about to share pictures they didn’t mean too.

Now on the news they didn’t cover everything I did.  They said that these party videos (and pictures) can affect future job applications. They did say the 2 out of 5 employers check applicant’s social media sites to see what they are like, how they live and what they share.  Now you can be sure that number jumped after the news.  It was on an American station but you can be sure this applies to all countries.

Now this applies to things you write as well.  That is why we need to teach the young to be very careful.  Adults also, telling lies, spreading rumors, swearing, all this is there for others, including employers (future schools), to see.

This is why I cannot understand why so many are getting away with bullying people online.  It isn’t hard to prove who has written what.  The only way that there could be a question of who writes what, would be if multiple people use the same computer at the same IP address. That is why passwords need to be private, not shared.  Teach kids never to let anyone know their password.  Never give your password to anyone, and this means adults as well.  Never, ever give your password to someone on the phone or online even if they claim to be a computer technician.   I have actually received this call on my private phone.  I laughed at them, and hung up.  Also if more than one person uses the same computer, make sure they all have their own profile, one only they use, very easy to set up on computers.

Well if have to work today so better get some shut eye.  Be back later.  Hope this has been some help.

Thanks for dropping by!
